In Part II of my Urban Indigenous Women Series (Winter Edition), we took it to the streets downtown as well as an abandoned field I had found within city limits. This was more what I was comfortable with, despite the chill in the wind (damnnnnn, it was cold) and Trudy was used to this, having been my test model on many, mostly cold occasions.
This part of the series feels more complete, and more of the isolation that I was needing to create.
I do think that this series is coming together nicely and that it will end up being a solid body of work that will be cohesive. It’s challenging to try and fit four seasons and ideas into a collection overall, but that’s what I want to try. To photograph with purpose, to create more of a statement, to make people feel something when they view my work. To challenge, to look twice.
