Rebecca Belmore at the Remai // commercial

In late January, during the quietest part of winter, Rebecca Belmore came to town. Artwork and all, she arrived and I was blessed to cover her opening night of “Facing The Monumental” at the Remai as well as her artist talk the following night. It was beautiful to see the Indigenous community come out to support both Rebecca and the local duo, Eekwol and T-Rhyme, taking up their rightful space as artists, as performers, as storytellers. As a result, the laughter echoed and carried throughout the night.

A few images from the two nights.

Via Remai: The exhibition is organized by the Art Gallery of Ontario and curated by Wanda Nanibush, Curator, Indigenous Art. Remai Modern’s presentation of the exhibition is organized by Rose Bouthillier, Curator (Exhibitions).
