Nicole and I crossed paths at a conference last year and she casually invited me to her place if I ever went through Calgary. A couple months later, we saw each other again at a separate conference and again, she invited me to stay with her if I ever went through. It just so happened that I was gonna be driving through to Canmore, so let her know and that’s how I ended up staying on the Rez outside of Calgary and doing a headshot session with Nicole, the fascinating and very open stranger from work conferences, and now a good friend, ha.
I actually had the best time. Nicole is such an Auntie, in the best way. Always making sure you are fed and coffee’d up, always sharing good stories and laughter. Staying with her was the best time – even with our nine am brekkie run to town with me in my sweats because she said casual and her dressed to the nines – and I can’t wait for the next visit.
