Maddie and I have been friends for a few years and we always make time for a session. This time, it was hella personal. Maddie had gone through cancer treatments, and this session was a few weeks after the start of her reconstruction surgeries. Young, powerful, creative – Maddie has always been fire but we needed something different this time. We are both northern girls from Saskatchewan, so I took her not to the beach, but to the forest. We come from a land of trees and muskeg, and sometimes, we need to go back to that to ground ourselves.
