A few months ago I was creeping on Facebook and Trudy had mentioned something about “just me in my moccasins” and an idea was sprung. A outdoor boudoir session, but not boudoir. Something that was First Nations inspired, something warm and sensual and powerful.
Something magikal.
I know, way to aim high.
I chose Lana because of her curves. She is powerful and strength in herself, and I knew that she was also open to new ideas and willing to try something new. She is also discreet, so I wanted something that hinted at sensuality and woman but didn’t overwhelm us with sexuality.
I worked with local aboriginal artists for hair, makeup, dreamcatchers and earrings. We tried to keep a First Nation element throughout but it was also about Lana, and being a green-eyed Indian and about claiming her power and showcasing her and her beauty.
It was fun. Challenging.
How to be sensual without being skanuky (slutty).
How to be naked without being vulnerable.
How to be strong without appearing angry.
There are so many cliches that we have to break through and confront, that we have to work around and these are the things that I worried about.
But I do feel it came together, I feel that Lana was the perfect choice and we had a magical location.
