I’ve known Lindsay Knight (Eekwol) for the last few years. She had just finished her Master’s degree at the UofS when I was starting my PhD journey. She’s good friends with my cousin, Tara (t-rhyme*). And we had talked about album and promo images for a good, long while. She had asked me if I was interested in shooting some work for her, then sent me a collection of black and white studio images, and I took up the challenge. Legit, we were in my tiny apartment kitchen, studio lights crowding us, AC blasting, and a random mix of my iTunes on the go – and embarrassingly enough, I have an album of Lindsay’s and it kept playing her music over and over.
I seemed really fan-girl.
Lindsay was amazing in front of the camera, natch, and she was game for the more experimental images later on after I said – “OK, let’s shoot sweetmoon style for a second.” It felt really good to work with an artist who wanted to explore form, lighting, and laughed at how excited I got when we hit a compelling combination. I’m really proud of what these turned out to be.
