It seemed like this was a year of love and babies. My best friend from 1996 (eeeeee boy), who I have been chasing around doing her engagement session and sneaking to the mountains for her wedding – made it hella real when she announced she and her hubby were gonna have a baby to add to their family.
In all honesty, it was never an option for me to even pretend to step back so they could have the ‘option’ of looking at maternity photographers. Like I was it, I was doing it, this was our baby, and if we had managed to remain friends throughout MuchMusic dances, boyfriends who broke our hearts, and her trying to run away to Vegas to get married, then I was doing her maternity photos.
I gots no chill when it comes to my best friends.
So late one evening, in late May when the wind was still a little cool, we walked in grassy hideaways and wide open fields, and I sat back and watched. Seeing them laugh and tease one another, and the quiet moments when Charlotte would just have one hand on belly, fingers lightly tracing movements only she felt, and her smile – that content smile where all is right in the world. This was blessings.
