The last summer of the wedding was the most chillest event ever. So chill.
So me, moments before these pictures were taken, I was speeding down country roads, almost passing cops and avoiding ducks, dust flying. I was doing this because I had been daydreaming when I set out of town and ended up going the wrong way for over an hour. Once I realized where I was, I called up Bonnie and was like “Ummmmm… don’t start early, because I was lost and am now speeding,” and she was like “Cool, cool.” I literally arrived and threw my car on the side of the small town road (it was fine), turned on my camera, and we were on. She was ready. It was starting. A beautiful backyard full of all their family and friend, standing shoulder to shoulder, a coming together of the many sections of their lives, and it was mad perfect and chaotic, and I loved it. A sweet ceremony that may have included vows from Bonnie stating “whatta man, whatta man,” because we all need more Salt n’ Peppa in our lives, and Rez puppies, and kids laughing, and Aunties and Kokums grinning, and it was just a good place to be in.
Afterwards, we dined and toasted in a full town hall, speeches ringing with truth and sincerity, laughter and teasing loud and joyful. I was so thankful to have been a part of their day, to be reminded that joy should always be present, that weddings are important because of what they do in our lives – mark new beginnings and bring together families.
