Alex + Keegan // maternity

I think I cried a little when Alex told me the news – she was pregnant. I immediately told random people from the class I was, introducing her as “my baby cousin who is pregnant” and she had to gently tell me to be quiet. I cannot keep a secret. I immediately asked her when she wanted to do pictures, and what she was thinking. Because Alex – this beautiful creative being – always wants to try something off the beaten track, something raw, something so her and him.

She had me at “naked in the bush.”

In all seriousness though, watching and documenting Alex and Keegan’s story together has taught me so much. Having the privilege to be trusted by these two old souls to truthfully showcase who they are, as authentically as possible, is always a beautiful time. From being engaged to their elopement in the mountains and now, to that gentle first trimester of becoming parents, seeing them embrace this new journey hand in hand – as always – makes me joyful.

They are magic.
