I am so damn proud of this session. Alex is my baby cousin. A few years younger then me, but always one of those good kids. One of the quiet ones who knew her way, talked with her parents, listened at kitchen tables, and did her own thang, travelling the world, making friends, following her passions. I have nothing but the utmost love and respect for her, and my conversations with her always leave me a better person. So when she and her best friend/sweetie, Keegan, started dating, it wasn’t a surprise. When they got engaged, it wasn’t a surprise. Alex doesn’t mess around, and when she decided to take that step from friendship to something more, you knew she took her heart, his heart and their relationship seriously.
The last time I shot Alex, we were West Coast. I was living in Vancouver and she was passing through on another of her adventure. I had no idea what I was doing with camera, but Alex was effortless in front of the lens, which made it all the better. So I was super excited to document Alex and Keegan, and when she sat down with me and said she didn’t want at typical e-session, I was already all in. Alex is vintage, she is tried and true, she is forever and timeless. Keegan is an old soul with laughter and humour. Between the clothing they chose (Alex rocks her wraparound mukluks!), their own musical instruments, my friend’s farm, and their dog, it was magic. It was sweet and slow. It was them.
Congrats, Alex + Keegan. So happy for you two!
