This year, English River First Nation played host to the first Northern Saskatchewan Youth Leadership Camp. Dale Apesis was one of the leading figures in making the camp happen, and ERFN volunteered their community, time and excellent bannock making skills to the camp to invite youth from all over Northern Saskatchewan to participate. It was a week of camping, great food, music, talks and culture. I participated for one day, able to watch the Youth as they started getting ready to perform their first song performance and being able to see Disa Tootoosis’s clothing line being showcased by some of the youth. Burning Youth, with Leroy Laliberte and Muggy Sinclair, were also there to motivate and speak with the youth. It was an amazing week, from what I heard, and am so grateful and proud of ERFN for all that they do for our Youths.
