The 20th Annual Indspire Awards, Saskatoon, SK // events

It was a highlight of my career so far. Like nothing I had ever done, being a secondary photographer for an awards show, so it was perfect. A challenge and an opportunity to work with like-minded individuals – creative, hard working Aboriginals who just wanted to promote and showcase their stories, their people. From start to finish, working with the Indspire team at the 20th Annual Indspire Awards Show was a momentous event. Chilling with the amazing performers, meeting the recipients of the awards, and just having fun while shooting and working the night away. Met a ton of good people and had a lot of laughs. The best part was after it was all over and done with, when the show had ended and the lights had turned on – still, we laughed, shared stories and made plans to meet up later that night.

Best. Show. Ever.

I am sharing some of my favourite images of the night. For a full viewing of images from myself and talented primary photographer, Doreen Thunder, please visit Indspire’s 2013 Set on Flickr, and of course, find more information regarding the show and how to nominate your role models and leaders at Indspire

Technical facts: I worked with a Canon 7D and a Canon 5D Mark III. On the 7D, I mainly used my 100mm and on the 5D, I used my 50mm. I would also switch on my 24mm as needed for wider shots on the 5D. No flash, as the lighting onstage was awesome. I was sitting second row (oh yeahhhh) and was jumping between my seat and the floor most of the show. Some clean editing was done on select images in Lightroom 4.
