The last time I clearly remember visiting Pinehouse, I was fourteen. I was there for Junior Games. I was jigging with my friends (I can’t jig) and singing karaoke with my friends (I’m tone deaf) and watching all the cute local boys. I know, it’s was a good time. So driving back into Pinehouse, just days after the ban from the infamous 2015 Summer of Fire had isolated and evacuated Pinehouse as well as many of our other Northern homes, was a bit surreal. The black patches of land ended less than a mile of the “Welcome To Pinehouse” sign. I couldn’t help but tear up at how close this community had coming to losing their homes, as well as how damaged the land had become. But us Northern folk, we’re survivors. We’re adventurous. We love in a harsh climate and are all the better for it. The community came together for Jordan and Lynette, and they had an intimate wedding with amazing decor and food. They had a massive line up of bridesmaids and groomsmen who all stood witness to their vows. They had family and friends bless their union. It was the perfect day in Pinehouse, and the perfect welcoming back into the community.
