I have been working on photographing and building my men-only portfolio. I find it’s easy to photograph a woman, but to make a man relaxed and casual and effortless in front of the lens can take a bit more work, as well as learning how to photograph their lines and angles. Josh and I met in February, after he saved my life by letting me charge my cell phone on his computer. We bonded over laughter that is too loud (he’s Tahltan/Black from BC, so he gots this loud laugh too!), school (he’s in Pharmacy at UofS, I’m a grad student) and family (he’s got a million siblings, I have a million cousins) and he volunteered, after a beer or two, to be my model.
I very critically looked him over and was like, “yeah, you’ll do.”
Did he ever.
It was a great few hours spent with Josh driving through the city and taking him to back alleys and roads. Sketchy as f*ck this city can be, but also provides amazing contrasts and lines if you know where to look. Josh nailed this session, and I’m so proud to showcase these images.
