alex + keegan // wedding

When Alex and Keegan were planning their wedding, I basically invited myself along. I had done their engagement photos, and I didn’t wait for her to ask me to photograph her wedding, I just asked when it was, marked the day down, and said I would be there. She laughed, said it was small and private and only their witnesses would be there, and I lay down the guilt card – “bet your parents would love some images though…” – she laughed, reminding of our family and the North in the way her eyes crinkled, and she nodded.

As the summer started, they wed on a hiking trail in Banff. She wore silk, he wore a felt hat a boutonnière she had crafted. She carried a homemade bouquet of feathers and twine and grass, and their dog wore a lacey bow. It was damp and grey, and the forest was silent and waiting. When Alex made her way up the trail, and Keegan lit up in appreciation of his soon-to-be-wife, I felt so blessed to have been a small part of capturing their love. It was a wedding that made me reflect on what it means to say I do, how personal of a choice that is, and the ceremony and tradition of why we do it. Of why we say yes to a lifetime with the one we love.

So much blessing and love to Alex and Keegan on their wedding.
