So. I’ve been dipping my toe into commercial work, and working specifically on projects that allow me to photograph events/commercial work that are geared towards bettering/enhancing Indigenous Peoples. This is a passion of mine – I refuse to take commercial work just because as I think that my time is better spent on breaking down stereotypes, showing positive images of First Nations and working with my people.
I was asked to participate in the Northern Career Quest project (NCQ) – photographing the members who had gone through the training and maintained a job, as well as behind the scenes of our trips. We did two trips to the Mines – one in McLean Lake, one to Rabbit Lake, and then we photographed members in Saskatoon.
The final videos can be seen here, and the NCQ Facebook page has a lot more information with links to supporters, advisor, etc, so go check it out.
Some final pics and behind the scene images of your enjoyment…
